Ideas to foster happiness between citizens

On an initiative from regions I and II, the UIA launched an open, international call for ideas to the architects of the world, as part of the upcoming UIA congress in Durban (3-6 August 2014). The goal was to collect simple and ingenious ideas, dreams or utopias, located and designed for 'otherwhere' and conclusive to shared happiness among citizens.

 

The international jury chaired by Deniz Incedayi, UIA Vice-President, met in Istanbul on 5 June 2014. Its members examined the 33 projects submitted and awarded three prize ex-aequo to: Aristeidis Romanos, Pavlos Aravantinos (Greece); Daniel Screpanti, Piernicola Carlesi (Italy); Corbus Ioana, Gabriela Belcineau, Alexandra Cretu, Amalia Enache, Felicia Militeraru, Elena Neagu, Vladimir Nicula, Laura Popa-Florea (Romania). Five honourable mentions were also awarded.

 

The jury appreciated the creativity of the proposed projects and their ability to deliver a positive message for the future of architecture and urbanism.

Jury

The jury is composed of Ms Deniz Incedayi (Turkey) and Mr. Antonio Riverso (Italy) UIA Vice-Presidents, Ms Fani Vavili, President of the UIA Hellenic Section, Mr. Şerban Tiganas, President of the Order of Architects of Romania, Nikos Fintikakis (Greece), UIA Council Member, Frédéric Ragot President of the International Council of French Architects (CIAF), Lorenz Braker, President of the Swiss Society of Architects and Engineers (SIA). Jerzy Grochukski (Poland) and Fabian Llisterri (Spain) UIA Council Members will both be deputies.
