Results of the 2011 international Torsanlorenzo Prize

This international prize highlights completed landscape projects and promotes quality public, urban and private green spaces. It is open to architects and landscape planning professionals and is run with the support of the International Union of Architects (UIA).
Two prizes are awarded in each of the following categories: landscape design, urban green spaces, public and private gardens.

The international jury was presided this year by Virginai Laboranti (Argentina), representative of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA). UIA was represented by Kongjian Yu (China).

Winners

Landscape design

  • 1st Prize: Tangsham Nanhu Central Landscape Design (China) Jie Hu project leader.
  • 2nd Prize: Bath and community building camaraderies in Seklerland (Romania) Ágnes Herczeg, project leader.
  • Mention: Restoration of an historical Barco and its unique garden, Ariccia (Italy) Virginio Melaranci, architect, project leader.

Urban green spaces

  • 1st Prize: Centennial park in Chapulco Lagoon in Puebla (Mexico) Mario Schjetnan, architect, project leader.
  • 2nd Prize: The Reinterpreted Mediterranean Lanndscape in Nicosia (Cyprus) Paolo L. Bürgi architect, project leader.

Private gardens

  • 1st Prize: Born in a wave in Zapallar (Chili), Niccolò Cau, architect, Ricardo Walker landscape architect.
  • 2nd Prize: Cliff roof garden in Rijeka (Croatia), Natasa Tiska Vrsalovic, Srecko Andrasi landscape architects.

The prizes were awarded during the Euroflora fair in Genoa where all the works presented were exhibited. Visitors were invited to vote for Euroflora special prize which was awarded to Anna Paola Cipolloni and Ana García Masó for their project entitled The KAOS of the Universe created in the context of the international festival of gardens in Ponte de Lima, Portugal.
