VELUX launches the 2012 edition of its award in Tokyo

The VELUX Group launched the fifth edition of its international competition in Tokyo, during the world congress of the International Union of Architects in the presence of Louise Cox, UIA President and UIA officers.

Open to students of architecture worldwide, the theme is: Light of tomorrow. Through this biennial programme, VELUX seeks to generate reflection and debate on daylight. Through innovative projects, the aim is to highlight daylight and sunlight as natural sources of lighting and energy. The building industry proves to be one of the most voracious energy consumers and at a time when the reduction of energy use and carbon emmisions is a priority in all areas, the theme of natural light takes on a very special dimension as illustrated by the projects.
