The Municipal authorities of the Island of Tenerife (Spain), in collaboration
with the Tenerife Technological Institute for Renewable Energy Sources,
launched an open international competition for the design of one-family
bioclimatic houses in the Granadilla technological park and entrusted the
College of Architects of the Canary Islands with its organisation. The competition,
conform with the UNESCO/UIA Recommendation, received the approval of the
International Union of Architects - UIA

suitable for the use of solar and aeolian energy. Water treatment and recycling
of waste were also to be taken into consideration, so as to make of this
technological park of Granadilla a pilot ecological complex, destined to
receive experimental, technical and scientific tourism.
212 projects were submitted to the international jury made up of Ricardo
