BENEDICTUS AWARDS 1998
International prize for the architecural use of laminated glass

OBJECTIVES

PRESTIGIOUS PRIZE WINNERS

COMPOSITION OF THE JURY

The jury was composed of the following three architects:

Ms S. Topelson, Mr. C. Blomberg, Mr. R. Hough

1998 PRIZE WINNERS

Jean Marc Ibos, Myrto Vitart (France) for the Fine Arts Museum in Lille (France).

The members of the jury appreciated the extension to the Museum which they perceived as a pertinent illustration of the passage from the 20th to 21st century. The innovative use of the reflective characteristics of the glass creates a play of illusions inviting the visitor to explore the "presence of a new architecture, end of century architecture which announces the dialogue with the next century".
