The jury met in Philadelphia (USA), on 5 May 2000. It was composed of the following three architects:
The Benedictus 2000 award in the category for commercial buildings was awarded to the Audi Development Centre in Ingolstadt, Germany, designed by Dietrich Fink and Thomas Jocher.
" The definitive value of this building is that it represents a trend in architecture and construction to look at design holistically, taking into account the form, structure and glass façades of the building as well as the climatic concept ".
The Benedictus 2000 award in the residential buildings category, went to " 440 Residence " in Palo Alto, California, designed by Anne Fougeron (USA).
Glass is extensively used throughout the house in both horizonal and vertical applications. The use of daylight and night lighting employs all the possibilities of transparency. This building is a successful blend of solid and transparent forms creating a whole and not simply a succession of glass walls.
