Celebration of cities 2 - CC2
On-line International competition for architects
and students of architecture

The UIA launches a second competition on the theme: Celebration of Cities. The entire process will be managed on INTERNET, on a secure web site: http://www.celebcities2.org

CC2 : THREE MAJOR CHALLENGES

The aim of the first edition of this competition, (2003-2004), was to collect examples of urban acupuncture: inventive ideas and ways of healing and repairing the city at sensitive points, as a means of engendering, on the long term, a vast urban restructuring.

Celebration of cities 2 - CC2- invites the architects of today and tomorrow to pursue this dialogue with their cities and using the idea of urban acupuncture once again, to respond to three major challenges:

- Make the city attractive and seductive;
- Make the city welcoming;
- Ensure mobility in the city and between cities.

A TWO LEVEL COMPETITION:
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL

The competition is open to architects and students of architecturefrom all UIA Member countries.
The UIA Member Sections* appoint a national jury and organise the adjudication at national level. The projects selected by national juries will then be submitted to the international jurythat will make the final selection at a meeting in Vancouver, in June 2006.

Competitors' anonymity will be strictly respected throughout the procedure on the secure web site.

*All the UIA Member Sections werenot in a position to organise the national level of the competition in their country. Nevertheless, architects and students from these countries can register and transmit their project in one of the «Regional Special Groups» also available on the competition web site.

PRIZES

Atotal of 20 000 euro will be shared between the winners selected by the international jury. Two grand prizes of 5 000 euro each will be awarded, one in the "professional" category and the other in the "student" category.
