Celebration of Cities 3 and
2009 Barbara Cappochin Prize

The international Union of architects announces the launch on 30 June 2008, in Turin, of the third session of the Celebration of Cities and the 2009 edition of the Barbara Cappochin International Prize.

The Celebration of Cities
Launched in 2004 by UIA President Jaime Lerner, the Celebration of Cities, an international consultation open to architects and architecture students, sought to create a series of urban acupuncture examples: ideas and inventive ways of healing and repairing cities at their most sensitive points as a means of generating a long termand vast restructuring of the city.

In 2006, the UIA with the National Council of Italian Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators CNAPPC with the support of l’ARCA magazine, launched a second edition of the Celebration of Cities on the theme of urban democracy and the improvement of city life conditions.

The third session will be organised by the UIA and its Korean Section: the Federation of Institutes of Korean Architects - FIKA.

The Barbara Cappochin Prize
This international prize, organised every two years by the Barbara Cappochin Foundation, honours recent realisations, for their architectural quality and their insertion in the territory, the city, or the landscape. The prize is organised with the support of the International Union International of Architects, the National Council of Italian Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators CNAPPC, and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservators of the Province of Padua.

A press conference for the launch of these two cultural events will be held during the architects world congress in Turin on 30 June at 12:30 at the CNAPPC stand in pavilion 5 at the Lingotto.
