A LINE OF URBAN HANDWRITING

In an arid country like Iran, water has a very specific significance and even more so in the city of Teheran.

The project proposes a solution that is both ambitious and feasible: the revitalisation of the river bed that has become an open, urban drain where water from the mountains mixes with the city’s wastewater, provoking material damage as well as problems for the environment and the city’s urban structure. Resolving this situation means separating the clean water that descends from the melting mountain snow from the wastewater. A system of ecological lagoons decants the clean water, while the wastewater is filtered into a separate network. Finally, the relationship created with the city’s parks is a very convincing aspect of this project. Along the river bed are various spaces of differing widths, according to their use. The project can be realised in successive steps.
