International competition for the UIA Istanbul 2005 Congress logo

RESULTS
In the framework of the 22nd UIA Congress, to be held in Istanbul (Turkey) in the summer of 2005, the organiser, the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, launched an international competition, on Internet, for the design of the UIA Istanbul 2005 logo.
The competition was organised with the support of the UIA and the Graphic Artists Professional Institution.
Open to all, the aim of the competition was the creation of a concept fulfilling the criteria of contemporary design to be used for the Congress promotion and communication. It was suggested that the design of the logo could be based on the idea or image of the architectural culture and profession and on the collective representation of the knowledge, values and ideals shared by the architects of the world. The venue and theme of the Congress: Grand bazaar of architectureS was also a possible source of inspiration for the creation of an identifiable signal of invitation to UIA Istanbul 2005.
JURY
At the first stage, all projects were subject to a vote on Internet by the participants themselves who were invited to select the project of their choice, (with the exception of their own).
The 50 projects that obtained most votes were submitted to an international jury composed as follows: Kamer Altinova (graphic designer); Aydan Balamir (architect); Yesim Demir (graphic designer); Sadik Karamustafa (graphic designer), Paul McMillen (Artistic Director and photographer), Suha Özkan (architect), Cagla Turgul (graphic designer), Nejat Emrah Yörük (graphic designer) and two deputy jury members: Cigdem Türkoglu (architect) and Fatih Söyler (architect).
