PRESS RELEASE

Paris, 10 June 2007

The UIA and FPAA reinforce their cooperation

On 2 May 2007 in San Antonio, during the Executive Committee meeting of the Pan- American Federation of Architects' Associations (FPAA), UIA President Gaetan Siew and FPAA President Gabriel Durand-Hollis co-signed a memorandum of understanding to reinforce their cooperation where and by all means possible.

This agreement, intended to give
new impetus to the collaborative efforts between the UIA and the FPAA to promote architects and the architectural profession, is centred around six ambitions:

• to
rationalise the resources of the two organisations in order to carry out pertinent and coherent activities at all levels
• to
reinforce the capacity for intervention of both organisations
• to explore opportunities for
joint positions and/or actions
• to
cooperate in relevant lobbying joint activities
• to ensure
reciprocal representation in each other’s working bodies
• to
share information of mutual interest.

The UIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Architect’s Council of Europe (ACE) in 2006 and with the Union of African Architects (UAA) in 2007.
