UIA-MASA
The UIA and the Association of Unions of Eurasian architects sign an agreement

Louise Cox, President of the International Union of Architects and Bakhrom Yusupov, President of the International Association of Unions of Eurasian Architects (MASA) signed a cooperation agreement between their two institutions.

Founded in 1992, MASA brings together the Associations of Architects in the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrghyzstan, Moldavia, Russian Federation, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan. It also includes the Associations of Architects of the cities of Astana, Kiev, Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

In the framework of this agreement, UIA and MASA will develop, according to their respective cultural missions, joint actions in the following sectors:
  • Architectural culture: heritage and urban renewal.
  • Sustainable development: use of renewable energy sources and environmental protection methods, from design to realisation.
  • Development of architectural education.

The agreement was signed on 10 September 2010 in Tallin, Estonia, in the presence of, amongst others, Lisa Siola, UIA Vice-President for Region II (Eastern European and the Middle Easterncountries), Martin Drahovsky, past UIA Vice-President for the same Region and Andrey Bokov, President of the Union of Architects, Russia.
