The aim of this consultation was to discover the architectural design talent of high school students and to offer these young adolescents and the public at large an opportunity to get a better understanding of architecture, urban environment and environmental resources. This initiative was supported by the International Union of Architects. The long-term ambition for this project is to extend it to other countries and make of it a truly international event.

The School of Architecture and Architectural Engineering of the Hanyang University in Korea (HYU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) invited high school students in these two countries to participate in this Olympiad. Students who registered for the design contest were invited to the designated venues to design, in a period of four hours, an architectural project on a given theme.

In the first stage, projects were adjudicated by a national jury (Five in Korea, the other in Singapore) and then an international jury selected the winners from amongst the projects selected by the national juries.
