International Architecture Olympiad in Asia

The aim of this contest is to discover the architectural design talent of high school students who wish to become architects and to offer these young adolescents and the public at large an opportunity to get a better understanding of architecture, urban environment and environmental resources. The purpose is to highlight the hopes and dreams of high school students who aspire to the creation of a new society through architecture. The International Union of Architects supported this initiative.

The
School of Architecture and Engineering of the University of Hanyang in Korea (HYU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) invited high school students in
these two countries to participate in the contest. Competitors were welcomed by these two universities, on 29 April 2007, where they had four hours to design their architectural project on a set theme.

In a first round, the projects were adjudicated by a national jury (one in Korea, the other in Singapore). Subsequently, from amongst the projects selected by the national juries, an international jury selected the outright winners.
