PRESS RELEASE

Paris, 25 February 2009

Confrontation of architectural projects for high schools students in Korea and Singapore.

For the 5th consecutive year, the school of Architecture and Engineering of Hanyang University in Korea (HYU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) invite 10 to 12 grade high school students in these two countries to participate in a confrontation of architectural projects.

The purpose of this Olympiad is to highlight the architectural talent of young students in a secondary education programme who aspire to be architects and to give young adolescents and the general public the opportunity to better understand architecture, urban planning, environment and its resources. It seeks to reveal the creativity, the hopes and dreams of young students who aim to create a new society through architectural creation. This event has received the approval of the International Union of Architects.

The students will be invited by each of the two universities on 26 April 2009 to design an architectural project, during a four hour period.

Entries will be adjudicated in the first round by a national jury (one in Korea, the other in Singapore) and then by an international jury that will select the winners from amongst the projects selected by the two national jurys.

The registration fee is 10 US $. Students must register before 14 April 2009.
