 The people’s government of Tanggu District announces an international call for candidatures. From among these candidatures, eight architectural teams will be chosen to participate in the international ideas competition for the urban design of Yujiapu District, in Tianjin. The International Union of Architects has approved this international ideas competition, by invitation and in one stage that adheres to the UIA-UNESCO regulations on international competitions. The people’s government of Tanggu District, Tianjin municipality, is organising the competition. The urban planning programme includes the general layout of a 3.44 km2 area and the design of a 500 000 m2 financial and commercial city centre. The international jury is composed as follows: Simon Allford, architect, United Kingdom, UIA representative Stig L. Andersson, architect, Denmark Bruno Fortier, architect, town planner, France Michael Sorkin, architect, USA Deci Zou, town planner,China Kai Cui, architect, China Zhengshan Wang, Local Government representative, China Architects worldwide are invited to submit their candidatures until 15 October 2007.
