A two chapter synthesis of the activities of the "Architecture of the Future" UIA Work Programme since 1994. The first chapter explains the "glocal" approach and the "eco-efficiency" concept established by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for world economic and ecological evaluations. The second chapter proposes a series of 18 case studies providing sustainable architectural solutions classified according to ecological, technological and socio-cultural approaches, and an approach taking into account the above three factors.
The book, produced by the Japan Institute of Architects (JIA) and written by Tohru Nakada, JIA Vice-President, Koichi Nagashima, Work Programme Director and Kazuo Iwamura, Coordinator, was published by Toshio Nakamura (JIA Press), in English. |
