Korean team wins first prize in the Velux Award 2010.

Three prizes and eight honourable mentions were awarded to the architectural student winners of the International VELUX Awards 2010. Now in its 4th edition, this biennial award recompenses architecture students and their teachers for an innovative project on the theme: the Light of tomorrow.

The first prize went to a team from Hanyang University, Seoul, composed of Park Young-Gook, Kim Dae Hyun, Choi Jin Kyu, and Kim Won III for their project entitled Constellation of light fields.

The jury appreciated the strong idea in this project and the subtle and intriguing way it addresses the structural, urban and social issues.

Two second prizes were awarded. One to Joe Wu, Chinese student studying at Delft University of Technology for their project Landscape between gaps; the other to Ma Xin, Wang Rui and Yang Meng, Chinese students at the school of architecture, Tianjin University, for their project entitled Condensation of variational sunlight influences.

The VELUX International Awards enjoys growing success. This year, 673 projects from 280 schools of architecture, in 55 countries, were presented to the jury chaired by Magda Mostafa who was also UIA representative. A prize giving ceremony was held in La Rochelle, France, in the presence of Louise Cox, UIA President.
