INTERNATIONAL IDEAS COMPETITION

ARCHITECTURE AND THE ERADICATION OF POVERTY

PRIZE (offered by a donor wishing to remain anonymous)

Winner: Ronaldo Brilhante, student of architecture (Brazil).

The designer has introduced new ideas that serve the aim of the competition in that it introduces reasonable solutions for housing the homeless as well as the low income population and,at the same time, has actually put into use the warehouses listed for preservation.
These creative and thoughtful ideas in the treatment of heritage buildings contribute towards the enrichment and vitalisation of older and historic parts of our cities. Such thoughtful treatment is in fact what we need towards a better social appreciation of the cultural heritage of our cities.
