1997 BENEDICTUS AWARDS : Winning project

 

A little guest house designed by Kengo Kuma (Japan), situated along the Atami coast on the Pacific Ocean, near Bruno Taut's Huga Villa, to which it is an annex.

Three structures built entirely of glass make up the guest house of the Huga Villa. The jury was impressed by << the magical situation of the villa built on a floor of water in contact with the sea below itthe connector between the glass and the stone of the coast; an interesting use of light. It is a strong piece of work with a lot of detail >>.
