<< The third prize winner uses the symbol of the doorway from the slave house to the unknown as the historical and emotional icon that is manipulated to achieve visual imagery >> (Jury Citation).
A Cap-Vert Park is recreated on the corniche recalling the metaphor of the African thinking under a tree descending down to the sea and leading towards an underwater entrance - the starting point of the Procession Path - and a long passageway on water at the end of which the visitor discovers the museum at the foot of the symbolic doorway. The museum is organised as an enormous dock on three levels anchored to the seabed surrounded by a wall of light and water.
