The authorities responsable for Transports Structures of south Tyrol (STA) launch an international competition, open to all architects in geographic Europe (*), for the design of a transportation Centre and its environs, in the city of Brunico (Italy).
This competition, anonymous, in two phases, has been approved by the International Union of Architects (UIA).
PROGRAMME
The competition arose in the framework of the comprehensive upgrading of the transport system of the Pusteria Valley, and the development of local tourism which gave rise to new demands on the part of the Municipality of Brunico, in search of new spaces for offices, leisure and local tourism. The programme is concerned with the upgrading of the railway station and the urban reorganisation of its immediate environs, creating a pole of attraction easily accessible to everyone.
In the first phase (ideas competition), competitors are asked to design the transportation Centre and attached buildings and structures as well as a vast car park for vehicles of various types. They will also have to propose traffic flow systems adapted to the new urban configuration and the new needs of the inhabitants. The second phase (project competition) will develop first phase ideas and include additional elements resulting from the synthesis of first phase suggestions.

PRIZES
At the end of the first phase, the jury will select a maximum of twenty projects, the authors of which will be invited to participate in the second phase.
The jury will award four prizes at the end of the second phase:

| 2nd prize: | 28 405 Euro |
| 3rd prize: | 20 658 Euro |
| 4th prize: | 15 494 Euro |
The languages of the competition are Italian, English and German.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Participation in the competition is open to architects from the following countries:
(*) Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Yugoslavia.
The registration fee is 180 Euro and will be reimbursed to participants who submit entries for the first phase which are in conformity with the regulations and programme for this competition. The fee should be sent to the following account:

TIMETABLE MODIFICATION
The organizers of the competition inform us that following the site information meeting of 6 October 2000, the jury and organization committee decided to complete the competition documents and provide competitors with supplementary information notably concerning the transport network.
