Dr. Ramatu Aliyu obtained her Msc in Architecture in 1990 and also holds a PhD from De-Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom, on Sustainable Development and Sustainable Communities Design, Development and Management. She has a particular interest in the built environment in the developing world.
For many years, she worked in the Nigerian public sector as Facilities Manager of Nigerian’s Federal Housing Authority. She is now the Founding Director of Planned Shelter Consult, a Nigerian construction company. She is also the Founding partner of the Built Environment Research & Development Foundation and the Proprietor of Green Meals Enterprises.
Dr. Aliyu is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, and is a Member of the London Court of International Arbitration. Within the UIA, she is a member of the Competitions and Sustainable Development Commissions. She has also acted as Assistant Secretary General for the Africa Union of Architects and as Secretary General for the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN).
Ramatu Aliyu will be participating in the second panel of the ACE-UIA International Conference on Design Competitions, 25 October 2019, UNESCO headquarters, Paris.
