The UIA is proud to present the winners of the recently concluded UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture Logo Competition. The competition received 588 entries that were evaluated by a prestigious jury (bios available on this link). The winning logo will henceforth be used globally to promote the triennial World Capital of Architecture programme.
First place was awarded to Pedro Contreras Olivo, a graphic designer from Venezuela.
His design was particularly appreciated for its simplicity, the clarity of its message, and its aesthetic coherence with the UNESCO and UIA logos.
Second place was awarded to Victor Barros P. Silva & Maria Gabriella Paes Agostini. Victor is a graphic designer and founder of VTR ARTE+DESIGN and Maria Gabriella is an architect. Their logo was praised for its boldness, clarity and adaptability.
Mauricio Schavinski et Tainara Comiotto, also from Brazil, received an honourable mention. Their design represents the ever-changing world, seeking to adapt to the forces acting on it. It was chosen for its creativity and overall artistic merit.
