Luyanda Mpahlwa was elected President of the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) for a one-year term. Currently Vice-President of SAIA, he will officially take up his new position on December 6. An architect and urban planner based in Cape Town, he is the director of Luyanda Mpahlwa Design Space Africa. In addition to his work in academia, he participates in numerous conferences on design and urban development in South Africa. A strong advocate for social change, he participates in the dialogue on African cities.
