UIA Architecture for All Work Programme Region I Meeting

The UIA Architecture for All Work Programme (AfA WP) Region I meeting took place in Rome on 17 and 18 January 2020. The meeting was hosted by CNAPPC Architecture for All Group at the CNAPPC Headquarters, Via Santa Maria dell'Anima 10, Rome.

Among the subjects discussed was the idea of a designing a draft Implementation Plan for the UIA Guidelines on Accessibility and Inclusive Built Environments in time for the UIA World Congress (Rio de Janeiro, 19-23 July).

A number of the Region I AfA WP members were also acting as jury members, shortlisting entries for the Friendly and Inclusive Spaces Awards. These awards were established to promote inspiring examples of accessibility in the built environment that have created socially sustainable and inclusive sites through high quality architectural design. The award ceremony will take place at the Rio Congress.

Participants also visited the E.U.R (Esposizione Universale Roma) and the Museum of the Imperial Fora in the Trajan’s Market, where they could observe how access for all has been achieved within the historic site.
