UIA International Forum in Madrid

Removing barriers to affordable housing: 16-20 May 2022

Housing is a basic universal right specified in the SDGs and is a fundamental reference for the future of countries and the world. 

 

Organised by the the Spanish Section of the UIA - Consejo Superior de Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE) in collaboration with public and private partners, the Forum will have in-person attendance in Madrid with a maximum number of participants according to availability of different spaces. The city of Madrid will also be used as stage and multi-scenario for online transmissions. Online participation will be available to all those registered persons willing to attend.  

Programme

The forum will be structured around: 

• Roundtables & Debates with presentations, conferences, seminars and workshops

• Parallel events and exhibition programming 

• Using diverse paradigmatic spaces assigned by the partners 

 

Main topics will include: 

Housing affordability, inequality, house price and rent dynamics, rent control, low-income housing supply and demand, private-public partnerships, mortgage and housing finance system, design and performance to support affordable housing , urban design and architecture, land use regulation and entitlements, demographic factor, homelessness, urban stratification, population mobility and immigration, policy at all levels of government, legal issues and regulations, healthy housing

General Secretariat

The UIA General Secretariat, placed under the responsibility of the Secretary General, is the Union's executive body and the administrative centre for the coordination of relations between the UIA Member Sections and their activities.

The General Secretariat assists architects and architecture students in getting into contact with professional colleagues throughout the world, from professional organisations and architectural schools to museums and media.

The General Secretariat helps architects to keep up to date with UIA activities, its partners and Member Sections.
