We wish to inform you that the submission deadline for nominations to join the UIA Sustainable Tourism Work Programme, originally set for 6 October 2025, has been extended to Monday, 13 October 2025 at 17:00 (Paris time).
The UIA Sustainable Tourism Work Programme aims to convene architects, planners, and policymakers to explore how architecture and planning should lead the shift towards tourism that heals rather than harms, grounded in accountability, creativity, and ecological intelligence. It will highlight examples of how architecture and urban planning have achieved positive outcomes in this field, to inspire participants and provide a practical framework for applying these principles.
The Work Programme will emphasise the integration of local knowledge and indigenous practices into the design and planning of tourism infrastructure, ensuring cultural and ecological sustainability in the long run. More information about the Work Programme is available here.
In this regard, I call upon UIA Member Sections to offer their participation in this new Work Programme. Please send your nominations for the Co-Directors or Members of this Work Programme to the UIA General Secretariat: uia@uia-architectes.org, together with the following:
- A CV, accompanied by a short motivation statement(1 page maximum)
- An official letter of support of the nominee by the Member Section
- The voluntary service agreement, signed by the nominee
- The declaration of absence of conflict of interest, signed by the nominee
