Architecture + Artificial Intelligence: Free and Virtual to Foster Innovation in the Profession
San José, Costa Rica | 27–29 May 2025
The Association of Architects of Costa Rica (CACR) is pleased to announce the XVII International Architecture Congress 2025, titled “Architecture + Artificial Intelligence”. This virtual and free event will bring together national and international experts to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in contemporary architecture.
Scheduled for 27–29 May 2025, the congress is open to CACR members, students, and architects affiliated with CACR’s international partner organisations. Registration is free and available through CACR’s official website: https://congreso-cacr-2025.com.
Held biennially, the congress seeks to promote architectural practice enriched by AI, focusing on sustainable development, enhanced efficiency, creativity, and ethical design in the built environment. Over three days, participants will engage in lectures, panels, and workshops addressing the practical applications of AI while maintaining architecture’s artistic and humanistic core.

- Keynotes on AI in architecture, including:
- “Synthetic Horizons: Architecture and AI in the Age of Singularity” by architect Rolando Cedeño
- “Demystifying AI in Architecture” by Spanish architect Fernando Iglesias Gamella
- A special session by event sponsor PCCAD on AI-driven innovation in architectural firms

- Discussions on AI’s role in project development and the human factor, featuring:
- Architect Paula Solís on AI’s impact in design
- Carles Farré (AECOTECH – Zigurat, Spain) on AI agents and the future of construction
- Keynote by engineer Tomás de Camino Beck
29 May
- The closing day, held in person only, will feature special activities and a keynote by internationally renowned architect Sergio Manes, expert in architecture, technology, and AI
Throughout the event, panels with guest experts and moderators will delve into emerging trends and technologies shaping the architectural profession.
Satellite Event in Puntarenas, Costa Rica
For the first time, the congress will host a parallel event in Puntarenas, in collaboration with the Municipality of Esparza. This regional gathering will include practical workshops linked to the main congress theme, featuring a Colombian sociologist specialized in Urban and Regional Studies and Marine Sciences. The aim is to extend the congress’s reach and benefits to CACR members in the Puntarenas region.
