The Daylight Award honours individuals or teams whose work has transformed the way we understand and use daylight in architecture and research. It celebrates outstanding contributions that enhance the quality of life and the built environment through daylight.
Award Categories
Nominations are invited in two categories:
- Daylight in Architecture – recognizing architects or practices that have demonstrated a unique and exemplary use of daylight in their built work.
- Daylight Research – recognizing researchers whose contributions have advanced our understanding of daylight, its impact on human health, well-being, and performance.
Previous Laureates
From Jørn Utzon and Alberto Campo Baeza in architecture to Till Roenneberg in research, laureates of The Daylight Award have set international standards for excellence and innovation.
Nomination Guidelines
- The deadline for nominations is 15 September 2025.
- Nominations should be sent to: nomination@thedaylightaward.com
- Submissions must include the candidate’s name, your reasoning for the nomination, and relevant project names or links.
- Nominations can be made for one or both categories, and nominators may submit more than once.
- All nominations remain anonymous. Please note that self-nominations are not accepted.
Prize
Each laureate—whether an individual or a team—will receive a monetary award of €100,000.
