Daylight Talk #23 by Darron Haylock, Foster + Partners

14/10/2025

The first lecture in the 2025 Daylight Talk series is entitled “Celebrating Daylight” by Darron Haylock, Partner at Foster + Partners (UK), in collaboration with the 10th VELUX Daylight Symposium.

The lecture will explore the relationship between architecture and natural light, central to Foster + Partners’ design philosophy since 1967. Darron will illustrate this journey from early projects like the Commerzbank Headquarters to recent works such as ICÔNE in Luxembourg, designed to maximise daylight and integrate greenery.

He will also discuss the benefits of daylight in architecture, drawing on projects like Sulis Hospital Bath and Maggie’s Manchester, as well as new technological innovations that support more responsive environments for living and working.
