The registration deadline for the International Emerging Workshop – A Wicked Laboratory has been extended to 26 January 2026.
Taking place from 19 to 27 June 2026, A Wicked Laboratory will unfold across Barcelona in the days leading up to the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026. This one-week immersive workshop will bring together twelve emerging architectural practices, each leading a studio composed of students and young architects.
In the context of planetary transition, the workshop will transform the city into a space for collective inquiry, design speculation, and transformative spatial thinking. Through studio work, field visits, and open exchange, participants will engage with Barcelona as a living laboratory, developing proposals, models, and spatial interventions that contribute to the global discourse on architecture’s role in shaping more just, resilient, and inclusive futures.
The workshop offers a unique platform for hands-on research, site-based experimentation, and collaborative learning, encouraging emerging practices and young professionals to test ideas, challenge conventions, and work collectively across disciplines and cultures.
