The Federal Chamber of German Architects (BAK) highlights the achievement of Andrea Gebhard, who received the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture 2025 in recognition of her long-standing commitment to sustainable urban development.

Andrea Gebhard’s work focuses on the relationship between open space design, landscape architecture, and urban planning, promoting approaches that respond to climate challenges while improving the quality of everyday urban life. Her projects integrate ecological, social, and climatic considerations from the earliest stages of planning, demonstrating a systemic understanding of urban landscapes.

Through her practice, she develops context-sensitive strategies that can be implemented in real projects, including the integration of green spaces in urban developments, sustainable management of resources such as water, soil, and biodiversity, the regeneration of industrial and brownfield sites, and the creation of resilient landscape infrastructures.

Her contribution to sustainable transformation is further reinforced by her role as President of the Federal Chamber of German Architects, where she actively promotes climate-responsive and sustainable planning across the architectural profession.
