Dr. Suad Mohamed Adeeb Al-Amri

Award: Arab Geniuses Award 2025 – Architecture and Design Category

Dr. Suad Al-Amri, Palestinian architect and founder of the Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation, received the Arab Geniuses Award 2025 in the Architecture and Design category. The award recognises her decades-long commitment to protecting and documenting Palestinian architectural heritage.

One of her most significant contributions has been her participation in one of the largest architectural documentation initiatives in Palestine, which resulted in a comprehensive register of more than 50,000 historic buildings and the revitalisation of around 50 historic centres across the country. Through restoration projects and community-based initiatives, her work has helped safeguard traditional architecture while strengthening local urban identity.

Dr. Al-Amri has also dedicated considerable efforts to training generations of craftsmen, encouraging the use of traditional building materials and techniques in restoration work. In addition to her field projects, she has produced numerous research publications and studies on Palestinian architecture, documenting building typologies, materials, and the evolution of historic villages.

Her work has played a key role in preserving architectural knowledge and reinforcing the cultural value of Palestine’s built heritage.
