The International Union of Architects (UIA) has announced an extension of the submission deadline for its International Survey on Informal Settlements. Originally scheduled to close on March 16, 2026, the deadline has now been extended to April 7, 2026, giving participants additional time to contribute.
This survey invites architects, researchers, policymakers, and professionals involved in informal settlement upgrading to share their experiences, projects, and insights. Its main objective is to document good practices, highlight challenges, and promote knowledge exchange at a global level.
With a particular focus on climate resilience and environmental justice, the initiative aims to better understand how different approaches can improve living conditions in informal settlements worldwide. The results will contribute to international dialogue and will be presented at the UIA World Congress of Architects in Barcelona in 2026.
The extension offers a valuable opportunity for more participants to take part in this important global initiative and help shape more inclusive and sustainable urban futures.
