The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ has announced the laureates of its 19th edition, held under the theme “Architecture Is Transformation.” The announcement took place on 15 April 2026, at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, as part of an international symposium organised in collaboration with Saint-Gobain, the award’s Official Partner for the third consecutive year.
Founded in 2006 by architect, researcher, and scholar Jana Revedin, the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ honours five architects, urban planners, or landscape architects each year whose work demonstrates a responsible, innovative, and committed approach to sustainability. The award has been under the patronage of UNESCO since 2011 and endorsed by the International Union of Architects (UIA) since 2024.
The 2026 edition highlights the role of architecture as a driver of change – transforming construction methods, resource management, spatial uses, and social dynamics. The jury recognised initiatives distinguished by their coherence, commitment, and social and political impact.
The 2026 Laureates
- Ye Man – architect, founder of ZSYZ (China)
- Doàn Thanh Hà – architect, co-founder of H&P Architects (Vietnam)
- Loreta Castro Reguera & José Pablo Ambrosi – architects, founders of Taller Capital (Mexico)
- Amelia Tavella – architect, founder of Amelia Tavella Architects (France)
- Andreas Kipar – architect, landscape architect, and urban planner, co-founder of LAND (Germany/Italy)
Through their projects, these architects and teams demonstrate architecture’s capacity to engage simultaneously with territories, resources, uses, and human relationships, contributing to the sustainable transformation of the built environment.
“In 2026, with ‘Architecture Is Transformation,’ the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture champions an architecture capable of influencing territories and social dynamics acting as a catalyst for change. The five winners, from China, Vietnam, Mexico, France, and Germany, embody this sustainable transformation,” said Jana Revedin.
