Architecture in the Aftermath of Disasters: Towards Sustainable and Community-Based Reconstruction in Post-Earthquake Morocco
The International Union of Architects (UIA), through its Natural and Human Disasters Work Programme and with the support of the Order of Architects of Morocco, has launched an international ideas competition inviting young architects to propose innovative, community-driven approaches to reconstruction following the 2023 earthquake in Morocco.
The competition aims to highlight the complex relationship between natural and human-made crises and to encourage visionary architectural solutions that can heal, protect, and regenerate affected communities.
Who Can Participate?
The competition is open to young architects worldwide, working individually or in teams, who are under 40 years old (born after 11 March 1986).

Deadline for Questions: 15 December 2025
Submission Deadline: 11 March 2026 (17:00 Paris time)
Award Ceremony & Exhibition: UIA Barcelona Congress, 28 June – 2 July 2026
