UIA President Regina Gonthier Honoured by the American Institute of Architects

The International Union of Architects is proud to announce that UIA President Regina Gonthier has been awarded the AIA Presidential Medal and granted Honorary AIA Membership during the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2025 in Boston.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) bestows Honorary Membership and the Presidential Medal to individuals outside the AIA who have rendered distinguished service to architecture and its allied disciplines. This prestigious honor recognizes Regina Gonthier’s outstanding contributions to the profession on the global stage.

The award ceremony was followed by an acceptance speech on behalf of President Regina Gonthier, presented by Immediate Past President of the UIA, José Luis Cortés, which reflected her deep commitment to advancing architectural excellence, sustainability, and international collaboration. This recognition underscores the UIA’s mission to promote architectural leadership worldwide and celebrates the dedication of the UIA to the global architectural community.

Cid Blanco Jr. Co-director of the UIA UN 17 SDGs Commission was also present during the AIA Conference in Boston, and provided a message from the UIA regarding the upcoming statement and vision from the Brazilian architects and beyond, which is intended to be supported in the lead-up to COP30.
