Under the theme “Back to Balance: Architecture for everyone’s better life”, the 2029 Congress will invite participants to engage in a profound exploration of equilibrium in the context of our rapidly evolving world, and examine how the built environment can be designed in harmony with technology and society.

The city of Mumbai will host the next UIA International Forum (UIA2027Mumbai) from 12 to 16 November 2027, under the theme “Urban Regeneration”

The International VELUX Award for Students of Architecture has been relaunched as Light of Tomorrow for its 2026 edition. Endorsed by the UIA since 2004, the award invites students worldwide to investigate the role of daylight in architecture and everyday life.

The 20th edition of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture launches today, on World Architecture Day, under the theme ‘Architecture Is Equity‘. This theme explores the role of architecture as a catalyst for democratic engagement, social cohesion, and equity.

Barcelona will become the first city to host the event twice. With the motto “One today, one tomorrow“, the UIA World Congress in Barcelona will look at the city’s relationship with its architecture to discuss a viable and sustainable future.

The organisers of the UIA 2026 Barcelona World Congress of Architects, the Consejo Superior de los Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE) and the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC), invite architecture students worldwide to participate in the international single-stage ideas competition “Catalysts of Resilience.”

For the first time, the award is presented by the Daylight Academy (DLA), an international membership organisation committed to promoting daylight knowledge and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among daylight experts worldwide.

The International Union of Architects (UIA), in partnership withUN-Habitat, have launched the third cycle of the UIA 2030 Award, a biennial international prize that promotes the role of architecture in advancing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a particular focus on SDG11 and the New Urban Agenda.
